The community bore it as long as they could but it proved too much for them. Their hardiness to inhospitable climes and food and water shortage was unmatched. But things came to a pass where they were faced with the specter of death. The community had no resort but to migrate away from the area. This they did, taking with them, what little belongings they could carry.

There was one invaluable thing that they carried with them and that was their financial and business acumen especially capital and credit management. They lived a simple but not spartan existence, ate good nourishing food and did not believe in wasting any resource. They would never waste water even when it was in plenty such was their upbringing and teaching imparted from generation to generation. They believed in saving money and gold.

Marwaris make excellent merchants and while they worked on mutual perception and professional trust, they possess some of the sharpest business practices. As the world progressed and transportation means became more prevalent and faster, they moved to new lands to attain prosperity there too. It is not that the going was always cushy. They faced hardships but they could weather these given their resilience which appeared to be almost an inherent trait. Today, the Marwaris, in a way own the country and the country owes them.
